In these troubled times, when dark realities pervade every aspect of our lives, we are all confronted with the question of creativity in the face of crisis and war. As film students, we feel the urge—and sometimes the need—to pick up a camera and press RECORD. But what should we capture? Should we pursue our personal scripts, even if their relevance seems diminished in the current discourse? Should we focus on social and political narratives related to the war, even if they are far removed from our personal experiences? Is there a middle ground? In this special event, a collaboration between the festival and the "Unfathomable Cinema Project," we will host a panel featuring students from across the country. We will explore the concept of "the personal is the political" and discuss how we can intertwine our personal stories with the ongoing crisis in our country. We aim to understand how to stay true to ourselves while acknowledging the harsh reality we live in. The "Unfathomable Cinema Project" was inspired by the article "For Unfathomable Cinema - A Call to the Makers and Creators of Israeli Cinema" by film researcher and critic Shani Kiniso. The project's goal is to foster an in-depth discussion about the role of Israeli cinema in the aftermath of October 7th.
